Giant Food Stores held the grand opening of both its Columbia, Pennsylvania, store and its Quarryville, Pennsylvania, store on Nov. 8. Giant entered into an agreement to acquire the 40,000- and 50,000-s.f. locations from Musser’s Markets in August. Both stores operate 6 a.m. to 10 p.m., seven days a week and each employ approximately 100 full- and part-time team members.
“Giant is committed to making life easier for our customers, focusing on easy, fresh meal ideas to help busy families put good food on the table,” said Erin Arnold, Columbia Giant store manager. “Bringing another convenient location to the Lancaster County community also helps us to better serve our customers with expanded product variety and new offerings for a one-stop shopping experience.”
Following a two-week remodel, both stores feature Giant’s signature fresh departments, coupled with expanded product variety and new offerings.
Customers can also enroll in Giant Choice Rewards to increase their savings through personalized offers on products they already buy. Introduced in October, Giant Choice Rewards brings customized savings and rewards right to customers’ fingertips with the Giant app. Members of Giant Choice Rewards can earn points on qualifying purchases at the rate of one point for every $1 spent. Through the new program, customers will also be able to earn points through personalized “bonus earn” offers.
“We’re excited to bring another Giant store to life in Quarryville, a community that has truly welcomed us,” said Nicole McMillan, Quarryville Giant store manager. “In addition to a refreshed store, the Quarryville Giant also features the convenience of an onsite fuel station located within the store parking lot, making life a bit easier for our busy customers.”
As part of the retailer’s ongoing philanthropic commitment, both Giant Food Stores locations made $1,000 donations to each of the following local community groups: the Columbia Borough School District, the Columbia Food Bank, the Mountville Fire Department, the Solanco Food Bank, the Solanco School District and the Quarryville Borough Fire Department.
