BJ’s Wholesale Club will enter the Texas market on April 24 with the opening of a location in Forney, where its gas station at the site debuted April 17.
The store at 11150 U.S. Highway 80 will mark the retailer’s 264th in 22 states and its 202nd gas station.
To celebrate the Texas debut, the company will offer a one-day gas promotion April 22. From 6:30 a.m.-6 p.m., members can buy regular fuel for $2 per gallon with a 30-gallon limit.
“Launching our Texas operations is a milestone for our company, and we know our model of saving up to 25 percent off grocery store prices every day will resonate with families in Forney and across the Dallas-Fort Worth area,” said Bob Eddy, chairman and CEO of BJ’s Wholesale Club.
The store in Forney is the first of four planned Texas openings in the coming weeks. The retailer also confirmed locations in Grand Prairie, Southwest Fort Worth and Waxahachie.
BJ’s offers a mix of fresh foods, produce, full-service deli, bakery items, household essentials and general merchandise.
Members can use digital tools such as curbside pickup, same-day delivery and the ExpressPay mobile app feature to scan items and skip the checkout line.
Membership offers start at $20 for the first year and include a 10-cent-per-gallon discount on gas for the first six months after the store opens.
In conjunction with the opening, BJ’s is presenting a $25,000 grant to the Forney Food Pantry to support the nonprofit’s food access and storage capabilities.
“The funds from this generous grant will be invaluable as we continue to work towards a community where no one goes hungry,” said Natalie McAlanis, food pantry director.
BJ’s Wholesale Club Holdings Inc. is headquartered in Marlborough, Massachusetts. The company pioneered the warehouse club model in New England in 1984.
