Wilton has launched a curated collection of recipes, bakeware and decorating tools to help home bakers celebrate the nation’s 250th birthday.
“Baking is a pastime that brings generations together–through recipes handed down, techniques learned and moments celebrated,” said Shanta McGahey, director of brand and community at Wilton.
“Wilton is proud to have been part of these special occasions for nearly a century. This campaign celebrates the family traditions behind the recipes and the joy they bring to every table, featuring some American classics like red velvet cake and berry cobbler.”
Wilton’s patriotic recipe collection includes Red, White, and Blue Red Velvet Cake, American Flag Berry Cobbler, Fourth of July Cookie Cake, Patriotic Star Cupcakes, Red, White, and Blue Swirled Cupcakes, Americana Wave Sheet Cake, 4th of July Cake, and Firecracker Red, White and Blue Popcorn.
The company also highlighted baking essentials available at multiple retailers including Walmart: aluminum square, round, and sheet cake pans; red, white and blue Candy Melts; red and white pouched icings with tips; ready‑to‑use buttercream frosting; an 18‑piece decorating set; disposable decorating bags; concentrated food coloring; and metallic sprinkles.
Wilton’s own history has tracked with American baking trends. In the 1970s, it expanded into retail stores nationwide and published the annual Yearbook, which founder Norman Wilton called the “creative bible of the American home baker.” The 1980s brought licensed character pans and the development of the 1M tip by Senior Decorator Marie Kason – still Wilton’s most popular tip. The 1990s saw the company mainstream rolled fondant for home bakers while launching Wilton.com.
By the 2000s, the Wilton School of Cake Decorating had drawn students from more than 100 countries. The 2010s turned decorated cakes into shareable social media moments, and during the pandemic a wave of nostalgia pulled bakers back to buttercream roses and handmade cakes.
