Combining a multifaceted career as a business leader, an authority on the retail food industry and an expert on how state government works in New Hampshire, John Dumas, president and chief executive officer of the New Hampshire Grocers Assn., is certainly also well known for his interests in hunger relief, emerging technologies, environmental issues and educational issues.
With a membership of more than 800 members, the NHGA has been led by Mr. Dumais as president and chief executive officer since 1986. As an entrepreneur, consultant and association leader, Mr. Dumais combines insights from his years of experience on the front lines to illustrate new concepts in management and inspires others to think creatively. And he has a very friendly, engaging personality to boot.
“John Dumais has true passion for his work and genuine concern for all of his members and their livelihoods. He has developed and maintained critical relationships with various state and local agencies and officials,” said Judy Knapp, NHGA president and government relations member for Hannaford and DelhaIze America.
“But John he doesn’t stop there – he is actively involved in various charity and community organizations, including the New Hampshire Food Bank and New Hampshire the Beautiful. In addition, he is always available for a professional or personal discussion,” added Ms. Knapp.
Mr. Dumais was also presented the NGA Association Leadership Award for his dedication and continued service as a community-focused state association executive.
