Indiana Packers Corporation celebrated the opening of its new Freezer Distribution Center with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at its Delphi, Indiana, headquarters. The 96,761-square-foot facility more than doubles the pork processor’s warehouse space and enhances its ability to serve customers throughout the U.S. and in more than 20 countries.
The $44 million project adds approximately 100,000 square feet of freezer capacity and has increased frozen pallet positions by more than 12 times. The project creates 30 new jobs, further strengthening IPC’s role as Carroll County’s largest employer. The company employs approximately 2,000 people in Carroll County and 3,000 across the U.S., and it continues to invest in infrastructure that supports long-term growth and the local economy.
“This facility is about much more than adding storage space,” said Eric Sheiss, president and COO of Indiana Packers Corporation. “The distribution center transforms how we move product to customers, both across the United States and around the world. With this expanded capacity, we can store, consolidate and ship products more efficiently than ever before, strengthening our ability to serve our customers and support future growth.”
The new building also provides environmental and operational benefits by reducing the need to transport products between IPC’s production facilities and off-site storage locations. The facility is expected to improve supply chain efficiency and reliability by streamlining transportation and logistics operations, reducing daily truck movements and lowering transportation-related emissions.
“As Carroll County’s largest employer, Indiana Packers remains committed to investing in modern facilities and technology,” Sheiss said. “This new facility reinforces our long-term commitment to our employees, producers, customers, Carroll County, Delphi and the north-central Indiana community.”
Founded in 1989 and headquartered in Delphi, Indiana Packers is a diversified meat processing company with 3,000 employees across facilities in Delphi, Frankfort and Holland, Michigan, and Owensboro, Kentucky.
