Food City has completed a major remodel at its store on S Mayo Trail in Pikeville, Kentucky.

The project included a modern décor package, new flooring throughout the interior, and new bakery/deli and produce cases. The meat department received new islands, and the checkout area was enhanced with new cash registers and the addition of six self-checkout units. A dedicated pharmacy consultation room was also incorporated into the remodel.

“We are excited to be wrapping up some much-needed upgrades to our Shelbiana store to better serve our loyal customers,” said Steven C. Smith, Food City president and CEO.

In a separate announcement tied to the remodel celebration, Food City officials pledged $150,000 to The University of Pikeville’s Bear Mountain Athletic Complex. Food City will serve as the Stadium Concession Stand Sponsor for the new football stadium, deepening the retailer’s ties to the local community.

“We would like to thank our customers for their understanding and patience during the remodel,” Smith added. “I think they will agree the improvements were well worth the wait.”
