B&R Stores Inc. has entered into an agreement to acquire SpartanNash’s Family Fare store at 1815 Court St. in Beatrice, Nebraska, with the transaction expected to close April 30.

Following the acquisition, the store will undergo renovations in the coming months and will be converted to a Russ’s Market. The company will retain the current leadership team, with Josh Gilbert remaining in his role as store director.

B&R Stores also intends to interview all current employees and aims to offer positions to bring them onboard. The company operates another Russ’s Market location in Beatrice and plans to continue operating both stores.

Nick Kelso, EVP of store operations for B&R Stores Inc., welcomed the acquisition.

“We are excited to expand our presence in Beatrice and continue investing in communities we know and value,” Kelso said. “This acquisition allows us to build on an already strong team, and we’re especially pleased that Josh Gilbert will continue leading the store.

“Our goal is to create a seamless transition for customers and employees while enhancing the overall shopping experience through the Russ’s Market brand.”

Additional details regarding the remodel and transition timeline will be shared in the months ahead.

  1. Family fare sold me a bowl of fresh fruit for 12.00 and when you took over I bought same bowl of fruit for 21.60. That is a 75% increase of one item, I have no idea how many more items this will affect. Now that your company has a monopoly on the southeast corner of Beatrice, Ne 68310 it make shopping choices more difficult. I don’t like being a Walmart customer, but prices like this force me to shop Walmart rather than a small company store. I live with in 1/2 mile of both Russ’s stores. It is so sad when all companies think of is money, money, money. More company’s need to do the right thing, example Ted Tuner and he still die rich. I did chat with store manager Josh Gilbert, so he has the examples of the two bowls with the info still on with price and dates. If need be, I have the actual receipts and dates of purchases. Purchases were about 10-14 days apart.
Hopefully you will rethink this and start finding a new vendors for your fruit section. The produce dept is a
very important dept for older seniors. Not all of us are on food stamps but still need to watch our pennies.
    Thank you for your attention!
