Cingari Family Markets will host a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 10 a.m. on April 20 to celebrate the completion of major renovations at its ShopRite location in Southbury, Connecticut.
First Selectman Tim O’Neil and representatives from the Southbury Chamber of Commerce are scheduled to join the Cingari leadership team for the event at 775 Main Street S.
The renovation project, which took place while the store remained operational, focused on modernizing the store’s layout and expanding its fresh food offerings. Key updates include a redesigned produce and floral department, an expanded selection of grab-and-go meals, and the introduction of exclusive Cingari Family Markets recipes and fresh-prepared products.
“This project reflects our continued commitment to meeting the evolving needs of our Southbury customers,” said Thomas Cingari Sr., president and CEO of Cingari Family Markets. “We’re excited to officially unveil these new amenities and welcome the community to experience everything the renovation has to offer.”
In addition to aesthetic and department upgrades, the project included sustainability-focused infrastructure improvements. The store has been outfitted with new energy-efficient refrigeration systems and LED lighting to reduce its environmental footprint.
The Southbury update is part of a larger multi-year investment strategy by the Cingari family to modernize their 10 ShopRite locations and two Grade A Markets across southwestern Connecticut. The family-owned company, founded in 1929, is currently operated by its fourth generation of leadership.
“The ribbon cutting marks the latest step in Cingari Family Markets’ ongoing investment in its ShopRite stores across southwestern Connecticut,” the company noted.
Headquartered in Stamford, Cingari Family Markets is a member of the Wakefern Food Corp. cooperative, the largest retailer-owned cooperative in the U.S.
