Stop & Shop and Boston Legacy FC have entered a multi-year partnership designating the Quincy-based retailer as the “Official Grocery Store” of the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) expansion team. The collaboration focuses on addressing food insecurity in Massachusetts through the Stop & Shop School Food Pantry Program.
The partnership launches amid data from the Greater Boston Food Bank indicating that 40% of Massachusetts households experienced food insecurity in 2025. The two organizations will coordinate community activations and matchday initiatives to expand access to nutritious food for students and families in the Greater Boston area.
“Being active in the community is central to who we are at Boston Legacy FC, and this partnership allows us to give back to the neighborhoods we call home,” said Amina Bulman, chief revenue officer of Boston Legacy FC. “We’re excited to work alongside Stop & Shop to create meaningful impact both on and off the field.”
To initiate the partnership, the organizations hosted a distribution event at Charlestown High School, which participates in Stop & Shop’s pantry program. Families received fresh produce and pantry staples ahead of the spring recess. Additionally, the partners donated athletic equipment to the school’s athletics department.
“We believe that being a good neighbor means showing up for the communities we serve, especially when it comes to helping families facing food insecurity,” said Jennifer Barr, director of external communications and community relations at Stop & Shop. “We look forward to working together to make a difference for students and families across Massachusetts.”
Throughout the 2026 season, the partnership will include pregame fan experiences and a “heroes of hunger” recognition program to honor those working in local food relief. Boston Legacy FC, the 15th team in the NWSL, began its inaugural season this year and is scheduled to play its next home match on April 29 at Gillette Stadium.
Stop & Shop, a division of Ahold Delhaize USA, supports more than 280 school-based food pantries across the Northeast.
