Island Pacific Seafood Market announced that its in-house dining concept, Philhouse, has been recognized as a top culinary spot in Las Vegas by Dailywise.com. The recognition arrives as the grocer celebrates Filipino Food Month (Buwan ng Kalutong Filipino) throughout April.
This year’s Filipino Food Month theme — “Connected by Taste: The Filipino Food in the Flavors of ASEAN” — positions Filipino culinary heritage as a driver of cultural diplomacy and inclusive growth. Island Pacific is leaning into the moment across its stores and dining locations.
“Our mission is to make Filipino food a staple in every American household,” said Chef Janjie Ocoma, executive corporate chef of Philhouse. “While pancit and lumpia are favorites, we want to showcase our full diversity, from traditional regional dishes to smoky street food. We want the community to see that Philippine food is a global contender.”
The Dailywise recognition reinforces Island Pacific’s positioning as more than a grocery retailer. The company has built Philhouse into a cultural dining destination within its stores, offering authentic Philippine cuisine from various regions of the islands.
Island Pacific continues to invest in community programming. Following the success of its fifth Annual Lumpia Eating Contest in March, the grocer hosts weekly events including Bingo Panalo sessions open to all community members and authentic Filipino Street Food Markets on weekends at select locations. The company has also launched a curated collection of regional recipes on its website for customers looking to bring Philippine flavors into their own kitchens.
As April honors the National Cultural Heritage Act of 2009, Island Pacific is inviting the public to explore the history of the Philippines through its culinary traditions — whether dining at Philhouse or cooking at home.
Island Pacific Supermarket is an Filipino-American grocery chain serving communities across California and Nevada with authentic products and a shopping experience built around Filipino culture, heritage and cuisine.
