The Fresh Market opened its second Pittsburgh location March 18 at 5880 Centre Ave., a 32,289-square-foot store featuring a restaurant and bar concept alongside the specialty grocer’s standard fresh food and specialty assortment.
The opening included a ribbon-cutting ceremony and a $5,000 donation to the Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank.
The location carries an elevated meat and seafood selection, bakery and produce departments and a curated global products section. The restaurant and bar component is a new format addition that complements the grocer’s ready-to-enjoy meal offerings.
“The Fresh Market shopping experience is unlike any other, and we’re proud to offer something for everyone – exceptional quality, everyday value and real choice,” said CEO Brian Johnson.
“From specialty items and the freshest produce to ready-to-enjoy meals and local favorites, our goal is to help guests make everyday eating extraordinary, whether it’s their weekly or daily shop, a special occasion or an easy, affordable dinner tonight.”
Opening weekend events
A community celebration March 21 will include free Pittsburgh-branded reusable bags for the first 300 customers.
There also will be a series of culinary demonstrations and samplings throughout the day – including the cracking of an 80-plus-pound Parmigiano Reggiano wheel, chocolate-dipped Sumo citrus tasting, sushi sampling and coffee tasting.
The Fresh Market operates more than 170 stores across 22 states. It was rated by USA Today as one of America’s Best Customer Service Companies in 2025 and named “Best Specialty/Natural/Ethnic Grocer” by Newsweek for 2025.
