Indy Fresh Market, Indianapolis’ newest grocery store, is hosting a grand opening and ribbon cutting ceremony at 11 a.m. Oct. 24, featuring Indiana Lt. Gov. Suzanne Crouch, national grocery store consultant Joe Welsh (aka Joe the Grocer), neighborhood leaders, elected officials, and co-store leads and neighborhood entrepreneurs Michael McFarland and Marckus Williams.
The full-service, 16,772-square-foot grocery store is located at 6160 East 38th St., in a food desert in the Arlington Woods neighborhood, near the Cook Medical/Goodwill of Central & Southern Indiana manufacturing facility.
According to the Indiana University Public Policy Institute in a report issued in August 2022, Indy Fresh Market will have a one-time economic impact totaling $11.1 million, plus an annual impact of $4.6 million in wages and benefits and related spending. An estimated 39 direct jobs and 61 full-time equivalent jobs will be added to the Marion County economy.
Indy Fresh Market is a collaboration between Cook, IMPACT Central Indiana, Martin University, neighborhood leaders, Goodwill, the city of Indianapolis, the state of Indiana, McFarland and Williams and national grocery store expert Welsh.
