ShopRite held a grand opening and ribbon cutting ceremony Sept. 1 for a 72,000-square-foot store at 5000 State Road in Drexel Hill, Pennsylvania.
The ShopRite of Drexeline is operated by the Burns family, which has more than 40 years of supermarket experience in the greater Philadelphia area. It will serve as the anchor tenant for the Drexeline Town Center, replacing a location that closed in May to help fast-track construction and development of a new parking area.
The new ShopRite, which employs about 250 full- and part-time workers, is twice the size of the previous location, with wider variety and more conveniences. Customers can find a range of prepared hot entrees, fresh sushi and Chinese cuisine, brick oven pizza, rotisserie chicken and made-to-order hoagies and sandwiches.
The ShopRite of Drexeline also offers an in-store bakery, meat department and fruit, vegetables and local produce. It also has a floral shop, deli department with gourmet and grab-and-go items and a large beer and wine area.
The seafood department boasts the largest selection of fresh seafood in the area, a dine-in café on the second floor and a covered drive-thru canopy for curbside pickup.
A member of the Wakefern Food Corp., a retailer-owned cooperative, Patrick J. Burns operates five Fresh Grocer supermarkets and two ShopRites in the Philadelphia area. Burns’ Family Neighborhood Markets aims to provide perishables in urban and suburban environments, while also improving food access and promoting health and wellness.
