The grand opening celebration for Ball’s Price Chopper, at 2107 S. 4th St. in Leavenworth, Kansas, is scheduled for Sept. 15. Special guests will be introduced at 7:40 a.m., followed by brief remarks and the ribbon cutting at 8 a.m.
Ball’s Food Stores President David Ball will be on hand to cut the ribbon, opening the new store to the public. Leavenworth dignitaries, including elected city and county officials as well as city and school administrators, also will be present.
Price Chopper will make a $5,000 donation to Folds of Honor at the grand opening ceremony.
The newly remodeled store is a “major” upgrade from the original store and includes expanded grocery offerings and services for the community.
Price Chopper has served the Leavenworth community for more than 30 years and has hired dozens of people from the surrounding area. In addition to hiring locally, Ball’s Food Stores also purchases food locally and works with about 150 local family farms to provide homegrown produce to sell in its stores.
Price Chopper’s 52 Kansas City stores are locally owned by the Ball, Cosentino, McKeever and Queen families, all of whom live in Kansas City and oversee store operations on a daily basis.
