Kroger’s Atlanta Division joined other retailers across the country in honoring its employees on Supermarket Employee Day. FMI – The Food Industry Association designated Feb. 22 as the day to recognize and thank supermarket employees for the work they do to help feed families and enrich lives.
“This nationwide event honors the hardworking associates that make up our industry, and we want to celebrate our amazing associates in Kroger’s Atlanta Division by saying thank you through in-store festivities,” said Felix Turner, manager of corporate affairs for Kroger’s Atlanta Division, which includes Georgia, Eastern Alabama and South Carolina.
Kroger’s Atlanta Division set aside more than $18,000 to help associates celebrate Supermarket Employee Day.
“We would also like to thank Georgia Governor Brian Kemp, for his proclamation honoring the work supermarket employees are doing to help ensure Georgians have access to fresh food and other essentials throughout the pandemic and beyond,” Turner said.
To date, the Kroger family of companies has invested $1.5 billion to safeguard associates and customers as well as acknowledge associates’ commitment through a variety of bonuses, additional pay and recognitions, including the $50 million in rewards the company issued last week.
As part of Kroger’s continued commitment, the company is encouraging every associate to receive the COVID-19 vaccine and providing a $100 one-time payment after they receive the required number of doses.
