The Fortune brand of fresh refrigerated Asian noodles has launched a gluten-free noodle line nationwide. Shelf-stable and partially cooked, the noodles are available in four flavors, Ramen with Miso Pork soup base, Udon with Garlic Chicken soup base, Soba Buckwheat with Shoyu soup base and Red Rice Ramen with Shoyu soup base.
The new line is designed to be a quick-fix solution for preparing “Asian fusion” cuisine that requires minimal expertise to make. Fortune gluten-free noodles provide 3-4g of protein per serving, are GMO free and cholesterol free, and have zero trans fats and no artificial coloring or flavoring.
“We set out to create a one-of-a-kind gluten-free Asian noodle product line to support the trending interest for gluten-free products. Our objective was develop the gluten-free noodle and soup base with no compromise in flavor and eating texture,” says Wayne Nielsen, VP of sales and marketing for Los Angeles-based JSL Foods. “Our R&D team met the challenge head on, developing a shelf-stable, restaurant-quality product that celiacs and health-conscious consumers can rave about.”
When customers purchase Fortune noodles, they are also buying complementary ingredients including vegetables and protein, which means incremental sales and higher profits for retailers.
The new line is now ready for retailer shelves and will be supported by social media, a national blogger recipe challenge, in-pack recipes and consumer couponing.
JSL Foods’ Fortune Asian Noodles are the No. 1 fresh refrigerated noodle line in the U.S. The brand accounts for 78 percent of all category sales nationally, according to Nielsen data, and can be found in more than 5,000 grocery stores across the country. The company also offers a pre-cooked gluten-free Brown Rice & Quinoa.
