The Arizona Food Marketing Alliance (AFMA) hosted its annual Excellence in Leadership Awards Banquet this month at the Phoenix Downtown Sheraton. More than 950 industry professionals attended the event, which AFMA has been hosting since 1965.

Shane Dorcheus, Albertsons–Safeway Southwest Division president, was recognized as the Retailer of the Year; Terry Morrison, VP of national accounts, Crescent Crown Distributing, was honored as the Supplier of the Year; and Jim Nygren of Fry’s Food Stores, who has been with The Kroger Co. for 51 years, was inducted into the Arizona Food Industry Hall of Fame.

“This event is supported by our retail food partners and their suppliers,” said AFMA President Tim McCabe. “This annual gala event is a celebration of the Arizona food industry marketplace.
