The National Grocers Association (NGA) recently presented U.S. Sens. Roy Blunt of Missouri, John Boozman of Arkansas and Mitch McConnell of Kentucky with its Champion of Independent Grocers Award. The award is given to lawmakers who have worked to advance pro-growth policies and workable solutions for independent grocers and wholesalers.
“Together, independent, community-focused retailers and wholesalers are a vibrant industry player in America’s economy, and we applaud Sens. Blunt, Boozman and McConnell for their work to support common-sense legislation that will keep the independent supermarket industry moving forward,” said Peter J. Larkin, president and CEO of NGA.
The award recognizes members of Congress who have demonstrated support for policies that advance and strengthen the independent supermarket industry. The awards were presented to each lawmaker by their NGA member constituents during the NGA government relations committee’s fall meeting earlier this month.
