The Stop & Shop Supermarket Co. LLC is launching the Stop & Shop Prescription Savings Card. The Stop & Shop Prescription Savings Card is not insurance, but offers discounts for prescriptions and personalized savings throughout the store on products customers need to stay healthy, according to the company.

“Stop & Shop recognizes the difficulties many of our customers face when trying to pay for their health care needs,” says Arlene Putterman, spokeswoman for Stop & Shop New York Metro Division. “Stop & Shop is pleased that we are able to provide them with the Prescription Savings Card, which will provide both insured and uninsured customers significant savings on prescription medications.”

The Stop & Shop Prescription Savings Card is used for any prescriptions that a customer or his/her family member pays for out-of pocket. If customers have health insurance coverage, they can use their Stop & Shop Prescription Savings Card for any prescriptions that are not covered by their insurance or for savings for their family members not covered by insurance. A one-time enrollment of $10 per household is required to receive the Stop & Shop Prescription Savings Card. As a thank you for joining, the company says, customers will receive $10 off a future grocery purchase (offer not available in New York or Rhode Island).

With the Stop & Shop Prescription Savings Card, customers can save on many brand name and generic medications and pay $3.99 for a 30-day supply and $9.99 for a 90-day supply on select generic medications. Additional pharmacy and other savings will be offered to customers with the Stop & Shop Prescription Savings Card during select months throughout the year, including savings on flu shots and diabetes testing supplies. Complete program details are available here.

In addition, the Stop & Shop Prescription Savings Card can be used at most other pharmacies at its Ahold USA sister companies, including Stop & Shop (excluding New Jersey), Giant Food Stores and Martin’s Food Markets and Giant Food of Landover, MD.

Stop & Shop employs approximately 63,000 associates and operates more than 400 stores throughout Massachusetts, Connecticut, Rhode Island, New Hampshire, New York and New Jersey.
