Big Y Foods is actively sourcing local products for its upcoming supermarket in Pembroke, Massachusetts, through an online “Local Vendor Discovery Tour” connecting the retailer’s sales teams with area farmers, vendors and artisans whose products could be featured in the new store.

The initiative reflects Big Y’s broader local sourcing commitment. The family-owned grocer partners with more than 500 local businesses to offer more than 4,000 local products across every store department – from soda, artisan bread and chocolate to coffee, honey, fruits and vegetables, baked goods, maple syrup and soap.

“Our commitment to local goes beyond just sourcing – it’s about celebrating the unique flavors and talents across the region,” said Mike Cormier, SVP of sales and marketing. “These partnerships help us deliver exceptional quality while investing in the spirit that drives our communities forward.”

Big Y’s sales team supports local partners with distribution and delivery, helping smaller businesses expand their reach and compete in a crowded marketplace. The retailer frames local sourcing as both a business differentiator and a community benefit – keeping small businesses healthy, reducing environmental impact through shorter supply chains and strengthening the connection between shoppers and the places they live.

While the immediate priority is sourcing for the Pembroke location, Big Y said it remains committed to identifying and engaging new vendors across all its store regions. Interested businesses can learn more and apply at Big Y’s local partner page.
