Fairway Market celebrated Lunar New Year with a culinary collaboration alongside Nom Wah, New York City’s oldest continuously operating dim sum restaurant, bringing an interactive dumpling-making class to its 74th Street Café on the Upper West Side.

The two-hour class Feb. 26 was led by Wilson Tang, owner of Nom Wah, who guided guests through the hands-on experience.

The 22 participants learned how to prepare traditional fillings, mastered dumpling-folding techniques and cooked them using ingredients sourced from Fairway Market.

The experience also explored the cultural significance of dumplings and their role in Lunar New Year celebrations.

“Fairway Market has always been a place where New Yorkers come to discover great ingredients and authentic flavors,” said Amanda Fischer, marketing manager.

Fairway Market carries Nom Wah’s signature dumplings, sauce and chili oil at all locations.

“Dumplings are a symbol of prosperity and good fortune during Lunar New Year,” Tang said. “This class allowed participants to learn the techniques and bring a taste of Lunar New Year into their own homes.”
