Tops Friendly Markets will hold a grand reopening June 3 for its 40,240-square-foot store at 425 Niagara St. in Buffalo, New York, that recently underwent a more than $1.3 million renovation.

During the ribbon-cutting celebration, Tops and Store Manager Russ Granata will present donations to local community nonprofits supporting first responders, schools, food pantries and veteran organizations.

“This considerable investment will offer customers a renewed shopping experience starting with associates that the community knows and trusts, expanded amenities and a wide variety of high-quality local, national and private label brands – all at a great value,” said Ron Ferri, president of Tops Friendly Markets.

Shoppers will find a new storefront, fresh interior and exterior paint with awnings and landscaping, energy-efficient equipment and LED lighting throughout. The store also has new shopping carts and corrals, expanded self-checkouts, renovated restrooms and a larger fresh perimeter.

Enhanced store features include:

  • Pharmacy upgrades: A new private waiting area and expanded services including specialty prescriptions, immunizations, DMV vision tests and COVID-19 boosters for those 65-plus. S3 Health Benefits Cards accepted;
  • Tops Fuel Station: Shoppers can redeem Tops GasPoints for fuel discounts or free gas;
  • Online services: Fast grocery pickup, delivery and catering through partnerships with Instacart and DoorDash;
  • M&T Bank branch: Located inside. Trusted resource for personal banking needs;
  • Flashfood app: Save up to 60 percent on fresh items like produce, meat, deli, bakery and dairy while helping reduce food waste; and
  • Field & Fork Network partnership: Double Up Food Bucks program providing produce cash back for SNAP users.

“At Tops, we continuously evaluate how to best serve our customers and reinvest in our communities. These enhancements help make shopping more convenient, affordable and enjoyable,” said Tim Tripi, district manager.

The location features in-store butchers cutting 100-percent USDA Choice premium beef daily, fresh produce sourced from more than 500 local growers and dairy farmers and a specialty ethnic produce mix.

The store is home to the first dedicated Hispanic cheese shoppe in western New York, and the bakery offers scratch-made breads, pastries, doughnuts and traditional Puerto Rican Cidrines bread.

Expanded grab-and-go meals include rotisserie and fried chicken, fresh prepared salads, breakfast pizza and made-to-order subs.
