Price Rite Marketplace hunger campaign

With help from employees and customers, Price Rite Marketplace’s annual Check-Out Hunger campaign raised more than $23,000 for local food banks this year.

From November through January, Price Rite Marketplace stores collected donations to help food banks address hunger in their communities. The company has raised more than $2 million through the initiative since 2002.

Price Rite Marketplace of Fall River, Massachusetts, was the top fundraising store this year, collecting more than $3,000 for The Greater Boston Food Bank.

“The Check-Out Hunger campaign is a cherished tradition for Price Rite, and we’re incredibly thankful for our customers and team members who have made this an annual success. Their support truly impacts the communities we serve,” said Kevin McDonnell, president.

“With so many of our neighbors struggling with food insecurity, these donations help food banks provide critical assistance to individuals and families when it’s needed most.”

Food banks receiving funds from the campaign include:

  • Connecticut: Connecticut Food Bank and Foodshare;
  • Maryland: Capital Area Food Bank and Maryland Food Bank;
  • Massachusetts: Food Bank of Western Massachusetts, The Greater Boston Food Bank and Worcester County Food Bank;
  • New Hampshire: New Hampshire Food Bank;
  • New Jersey: Community FoodBank of New Jersey and Food Bank of South Jersey;
  • New York: FeedMore WNY, Food Bank of Central New York, Foodlink and Regional Food Bank of Northeastern New York;
  • Pennsylvania: Central Pennsylvania Food Bank, Helping Harvest, Philabundance, Second Harvest Food Bank of the Lehigh Valley, Second Harvest Food Bank of Northwest Pennsylvania and Weinberg Northeast Regional Food Bank; and
