Save Mart will serve as an official partner of the 39th annual San Joaquin Asparagus Festival, taking place April 11-13 at the fairgrounds in San Joaquin County, California.
The community event draws large crowds each year in celebration of spring, with local fresh produce, vendors, live music, carnival rides, a petting zoo and family fun. Discounted tickets are on sale and available at all Save Mart and Lucky stores through April 13.
“The San Joaquin Asparagus Festival is a staple event in the community where neighbors come together to treat themselves to some delicious food, have fun and make new memories,” said John Norman, VP of store operations at Save Mart.
“We are proud to support an important event that celebrates the local farmers and the bounty of fresh produce that we are all fortunate to enjoy this time of year.”
Save Mart is the presenting partner of Asparagus Alley, a main draw of the festival, where guests can sample dozens of dishes such as deep-fried asparagus and asparagus ice cream.
The Save Mart booth will offer farm-fresh asparagus for purchase by the bunch or case and also will offer lawn games, photo ops, charging stations and shaded picnic tables. Save Mart’s giant shopping cart “Big Red” will be on display all three days.
At Asparagus Plaza, where Save Mart is title sponsor, local chefs will demonstrate how to cook asparagus-themed dishes. The “Midway of Fun” will offer carnival rides and games, and participants in the seventh annual San Joaquin Asparagus Festival Scholarship Pageant will represent their community.
