The grand opening for Cardenas Markets’ first store in Tucson, Arizona, took place at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 20. The ceremony was attended by store officials, local leaders and members of the business community.
This new store provides 150 jobs to the local economy and occupies 50,000 s.f. of a newly remodeled retail space at 902 W. Irvington Road in Tucson, Arizona.
Cardenas Markets #59 expands the “Keep Life Flavorful” design to its most easterly Arizona store location. The store features a fully equipped “cocina” with a full view of the food preparation process and the flavors of the Mexican food cuisine, as well as a Tortilleria, with freshly made tortillas and masa. Added to the design is a coffee bar and food buffet, along with Cardenas’ traditional Panaderia and many of the traditional Mexican baked breads and pastry products.
The grand opening celebration served as an opportunity to taste traditional Mexican foods and enjoy the local talent of Mariachi Aztlan de Pueblo High School and the performance of Sunnyside High School folklorico dancers.
As part of its commitment to community engagement, Cardenas Markets presented two separate scholarship donations—one to Sunnyside High School and one to Pueblo High School, all totaling $10,000 reinvested into the Tucson community.
Cardenas Markets LLC is headquartered in Ontario, Canada, and now operates a total of 52 stores under the Cardenas banner and seven stores under the Los Altos Ranch Market banner.
