Publix has once again been ranked to Fortune magazine’s 500 list. Publix ranked No. 104 on this year’s list—up from No. 108 last year—and No. 6 in the food and drug category.
“I believe we are a strong, healthy and vibrant company because we own it,” said Publix CEO Ed Crenshaw. “Although Publix is a regional company, we’re admired across the nation because of our commitment to our associates and their commitment to the communities we serve. We wouldn’t be able to achieve this recognition without our associates and their dedication.”
U.S. companies are ranked by total revenues for their respective fiscal years. More information about the survey, how companies were ranked and the full list can be found a Fortune’s website. Several other grocers made the list as well.
Lakeland, Fla.-based Publix is privately owned and operated by its 167,500 employees, with 2013 sales of $28.9 billion. Publix currently has 1,077 stores in Florida, Georgia, Alabama, Tennessee, South Carolina and North Carolina.
