The Raley’s Companies has announced a leadership transition, with President and CEO Keith Knopf departing after 11 years and owner and Chairman Mike Teel returning to the CEO role he previously held before Knopf joined the company.

“After 11 fulfilling years of service, I have reached a natural inflection point, and having achieved significant milestones, chosen at this point in time to step away,” Knopf said.

“Serving as president and CEO has been an immense privilege, and I remain proud of what our team has accomplished together. I am grateful for the support and partnership of the board throughout my tenure.”

During Knopf’s tenure, the organization doubled in size through multiple acquisitions, developed e-commerce and digital capabilities and evolved its loyalty program. His leadership also brought improvements to the company’s supply chain.

“Keith’s contributions over the past 11 years have left a meaningful mark on this company and the communities we serve,” Teel said. “He is leaving us with a strong, capable leadership team, and I am stepping back into this role with confidence in the people and the foundation.

“Our focus remains where it has always been – on our customers, our team members and the communities we are proud to serve.”

New leadership appointments

Alongside Teel’s return as CEO, two experienced leaders have been promoted to assist with the transition.

Tiffanie Burkhalter, who joined The Raley’s Companies as CFO in 2023, has been appointed president and chief financial officer, while Jen Warner has become president and chief operations officer.

Warner joined Raley’s in 2020 as chief administrative officer and has since served as president of the Raley’s operating division and most recently as chief growth and transformation officer.

The Raley’s Companies is a private, family-owned retail company headquartered in West Sacramento, California.

Founded in 1935, its store operations have grown to more than 230 locations across four states and four Tribal Nations under eight banners: Raley’s, Bel Air, Nob Hill Foods, Raley’s O-N-E Market, Bashas’, Food City, AJ’s Fine Foods and Bashas’ Diné Market. The company employs more than 17,000 people.
