The Pennsylvania Food Merchants Association (PFMA) has added Christopher Edwards, director of store operations for Wawa, to its board of directors. Edwards brings more than 20 years of hospitality and retail leadership experience to the role.
In his current position, Edwards leads Wawa’s Pennsylvania store operations across a region spanning Delaware County through Central Pennsylvania. Since joining Wawa in 2014, he has held multiple leadership roles including Manager of Implementation, where he oversaw enterprise-wide rollouts of new products, technology initiatives and regulatory compliance programs across the company’s store network.
Before Wawa, Edwards served as a district manager for Potbelly Sandwich Works, managing operations in the Maryland and Washington, D.C. markets. He holds a degree in hospitality management from Penn State University.
Alex Baloga, president and CEO of PFMA, said Edwards’ background spans both operational depth and industry breadth.
“Chris brings a deep understanding of both operations and the evolving needs of today’s food and beverage industry. His leadership experience and perspective from Wawa will be a tremendous asset to PFMA’s board of directors,” Baloga said.
PFMA’s board of directors includes leaders from across Pennsylvania’s food and beverage industry – retailers, wholesalers, distributors and service providers – who help guide the association’s advocacy, industry initiatives and member engagement efforts statewide.
Founded in 1952, PFMA represents nearly 500 member companies operating thousands of retail food stores, production facilities and distribution centers, collectively employing more than 350,000 Pennsylvanians.
