Hillphoenix refrigeration system

Hillphoenix, part of Dover Food Retail and Dover, launched the Next Generation Flex Mini, a CO2 transcritical refrigeration system designed for food retail and industrial applications. The system is built around serviceability and energy efficiency in a compact footprint.

The Flex Mini platform supports two compressor brand configurations, giving operators flexibility to match existing technical standards or brand preferences. It features a maintenance-free, filter-less oil separator and integrated bypass valves to reduce service time and maximize uptime. Advanced low-pressure ejector technology is designed to cut energy consumption, and the unit offers multiple voltage options with optional weatherproof, soundproof and cold-weather configurations.

Senthilkumar K Shanmugam, Hillphoenix’s senior product manager, said the system addresses two pressure points operators face with CO2 refrigeration – complexity and cost.

“The Next Generation Flex Mini represents a significant step forward in our mission to provide accessible, high-efficiency natural refrigerant solutions. It combines high-performance cooling with a design that is easier to service and more efficient to operate,” Shanmugam said.

Why it matters for grocers

CO2 transcritical systems have gained ground in food retail as retailers face tightening refrigerant regulations and look to reduce long-term operating costs. The Flex Mini’s dual-brand compressor compatibility and filter-less design are aimed at lowering both the technical barrier to adoption and the ongoing maintenance burden for store operators and service technicians.

Hillphoenix designs and manufactures commercial refrigerated display cases, specialty products, commercial and industrial refrigeration systems and integrated power distribution systems. Training and aftermarket services are available through the Hillphoenix Learning Center and The AMS Group.
