Schnucks Markets and its customers raised $100,000 for the Urban League of Metropolitan St. Louis through the sixth annual Round Up at the Register campaign Feb. 4-17.

Customers contributed $83,624 at checkout, with Schnucks adding $16,376.

All St. Louis-area donations are directed to the Urban League’s Save Our Sons and Save Our Sisters programs.

Round-ups at Schnucks stores in other markets support the respective local Urban League chapter or the National Urban League.

“Having been partners for more than half a century, we know the great work the Urban League does providing economic opportunities to those in need by creating ladders out of poverty through jobs, entrepreneurship and financial responsibility,” said Todd Schnuck, chairman and CEO of Schnucks and a past chairman of the ULSTL board.

“I thank our customers for their generous round ups, and I applaud Schnucks teammates who continually strive to nourish people’s lives through our community engagement efforts.”

Michael P. McMillan, president and CEO of the ULSTL, expressed gratitude for the results.

“These funds will directly support our Save Our Sons and Save Our Sisters programs, helping individuals gain access to workforce opportunities, mentorship and life-changing resources that empower them to build stable futures for themselves and their families,” McMillan said.

Founded in St. Louis in 1939, Schnucks Markets operates 113 stores in Missouri, Illinois and Indiana, with more than 11,000 employees. It is part of 1939 Group Inc., which also includes Festival Foods and Hometown Grocers Inc.
