H-E-B has opened entries for its 13th annual Quest for Texas Best competition, giving Texas-based product makers until April 22 to submit their products for a chance at shelf placement across the state and a share of $100,000 in cash prizes.
The Grand Prize winner receives $50,000, the “Texas Best” title and a spot on H-E-B shelves statewide. First place earns $25,000, second place $15,000 and third place $10,000. H-E-B business development managers will review submissions and select finalists to present before a panel of judges in San Antonio this October.
Since the competition launched, H-E-B has reviewed more than 7,000 product samples, discovered more than 1,000 unique Texas-made products and awarded nearly $3 million in prize money. Winning entries have spanned a wide range of food and non-food categories – from cookies, coffees, empanadas, pickles and pho to beauty items, toys, home goods, gardening supplies and coolers.
James Harris, senior director of diversity and inclusion and supplier diversity at H-E-B, said the competition continues to surface unexpected talent from across the state.
“We look forward to connecting with Texas-based innovators each year and providing exciting opportunities through this competition. I can’t wait to see what products are brought to the table this year. After 12 years of the H-E-B Quest for Texas Best, the creativity and ingenuity of Texans still inspire me,” Harris said.
Prospective entrants can meet with H-E-B sourcing leaders at informational sessions scheduled for April 8, April 15 and April 21. Registration is required. Entry details, session registration and the two-minute video submission requirement are all available at HEB.com/quest.
