Land O’Lakes has been named the most trusted butter brand in the U.S., according to Newsweek‘s 2026 Most Trusted Brand Awards, conducted by market research firm BrandSpark.
The designation is based on an unaided survey of more than 35,000 American shoppers asked to name – without prompts or lists – the brands they trust most across grocery store categories.

The methodology is designed to surface brands that are top of mind rather than those benefiting from prompted recognition. Land O’Lakes Butter led the dairy category under that measure.
Heather Anfang, president of dairy foods and EVP of Land O’Lakes, heralded the news.
“Earning consumers’ trust, especially in today’s value-driven environment, is a responsibility we take seriously and making quality, dependable butter only matters if consumers trust us to make their mealtime efforts a little more magical,” she said.
“This recognition reinforces what our farmer-owners and teams work toward every day – delivering butter and delicious dairy products people can count on.”
The Newsweek report noted that trust in top-ranked brands is driven more by consistent consumer experience than by marketing.
The survey found that even as shoppers shift toward private label to manage food costs, certain categories – butter among them – remain areas where brand loyalty persists.
