The Kroger Co. announced that Zepbound KwikPen, Eli Lilly’s multi-dose weight-management injection, is available at participating Kroger Family of Pharmacies locations.
For the first time, self-pay patients eligible for Lilly’s KwikPen Self-Pay Savings Card can access the manufacturer’s program at a retail pharmacy counter.
Zepbound is a GLP-1 receptor agonist prescribed for chronic weight management. The KwikPen format offers a multi-dose delivery option compared to the single-dose auto-injector previously available.
Kroger pharmacies will honor Lilly’s savings card according to the program’s eligibility requirements and terms.
Pharmacy associates are available to help patients compare payment options – including insurance benefits, manufacturer programs and discount cards – to identify the lowest-cost pathway.
Insurance coverage and pricing vary by individual, and a valid prescription from a licensed healthcare provider is required.
Colleen Lindholz, group VP and president of Kroger Health, said the availability reflects growing patient demand for accessible weight-management options.
“Our customers and communities want affordable, effective weight-management treatment options with real affordability,” she said.
Beyond the prescription
Kroger is positioning the pharmacy availability within a broader care model.
Patients filling GLP-1 prescriptions at Kroger locations have access to personalized pharmacist counseling on medication use and side-effect management, virtual nutrition care from registered dietitians and integrated care pathways connecting pharmacy teams with The Little Clinic locations.
Kroger also noted that patients can fill their prescriptions and shop for protein- and fiber-rich foods in the same visit. Ongoing referrals to dietitians and other healthcare providers are available when appropriate.
Kroger has more than 400,000 employees across its family of retail banners and e-commerce platforms.
