Rise Baking Co. will add 115,000 square feet of manufacturing space to its Pleasant View, Utah, facility this year as part of a network consolidation that includes closing its Kent, Washington, plant. The expansion is expected to create 170 new jobs and is slated for completion in 2026.
The Pleasant View facility has operated since 1994 and currently spans more than 142,000 square feet of production and cold storage space, specializing in cookies and icings. The expansion will add pie production capacity alongside infrastructure upgrades including advanced wastewater management systems and energy-efficiency improvements.
Consolidating around a core facility
CEO Mark McNeil said the strategy is about building a more rational manufacturing network rather than simply adding square footage.
“This expansion is about building a smarter, more efficient manufacturing network that better supports our customers today and positions us for the future. By further investing in Pleasant View, we’re optimizing our pie production footprint while creating additional footprint and capacity to support future growth, strengthening our ability to deliver the quality and consistency our customers rely on,” McNeil said.
The Kent, Washington, closure will occur in the coming months. Rise said it conducted a careful review before reaching the decision and is offering affected employees a severance and retention package tied to years of service, as well as the opportunity to apply for other roles within the organization.
Supplier to grocery and foodservice Industries
Founded in 2013 and headquartered in Minneapolis, Rise produces cakes, cookies, muffins, icings and pies for in-store bakeries and foodservice clients including national grocery chains, convenience stores, quick-service restaurants and mass merchandisers. The company’s brand portfolio includes Brill, Table Talk, Best Maid, Henry & Henry, South Coast Baking and Bakestone Brothers, among others.
The Pleasant View expansion positions the facility as Rise’s primary hub for pie production going forward, consolidating volume that had been split across multiple sites.
