Whole Foods Market will open six new stores across London between April and June 2026, doubling its U.K. store count to 12. The expansion marks the international debut of the grocer’s Daily Shop format, a compact store design launched in New York City in 2024 that fits high-quality product selection into locations under 14,000 square feet.

The six new locations range from roughly 3,300 to 10,000 square feet and will open in Angel, Liverpool Street, Notting Hill Gate, Wood Wharf (Canary Wharf), Monument and St. James’s neighborhoods.

Opening dates for each location:

  • Angel – The Mall, 359 Upper Street, N1 0PD – April 2
  • Liverpool Street – Unit 4b-5, Blomfield Street, EC2M 7BD – April 23
  • Notting Hill Gate – 66-74 Notting Hill Gate, W11 3HT – May 14
  • Wood Wharf – 4 Water St., E14 5GX – May 28
  • Monument – Unit 1, 20 Gracechurch St., EC3V 0BG – June 4
  • St. James’s – 57 Victoria St., SW1P 2HX – June 11

Whole Foods Market’s U.K. expansion had been dormant for more than a decade before the company opened a 21,000-square-foot store on King’s Road in London last March. The six new locations represent a significant acceleration – and a shift in strategy toward smaller-format stores positioned in high-density urban neighborhoods.

Jason Buechel, VP of Amazon’s Worldwide Grocery Stores and Whole Foods Market CEO, said the expansion reflects the company’s confidence in the U.K. market and its ability to bring its quality standards to more communities.

“Each new store represents an opportunity to bring responsibly sourced, high-quality food to more communities who share our values of nourishing people and the planet,” Buechel said.

Jade Hoai, executive leader of operations for Whole Foods Market U.K., said the company is focused on delivering both product quality and customer experience at each new location.

“We look forward to opening our doors to these wonderful communities, and to providing great customer service and an excellent product assortment that meets our high quality standards,” Hoai said.

What shoppers will find

Each store will carry certified organic and conventional produce, prepared foods, animal-welfare-certified meat, sustainable or responsibly farmed seafood, and a specialty cheese and charcuterie department. A dedicated Wellness and Beauty section will stock supplements, skincare and haircare. Fresh bread will be baked daily in each bakery department alongside gluten- and dairy-free items.

New and exclusive products at the U.K. locations will include Vidrate Mojito Electrolyte Sachets, Karma Kombucha Mojito Ginger Beer, Mojo Mate iced teas and coffees, White Box Whiskey Sour and Walker Wodehouse Mexican Lager, among others.

All products must clear Whole Foods Market’s quality standards, which prohibit hydrogenated fats, high-fructose corn syrup and more than 300 flavors, colors, sweeteners and other commonly used additives. Body care products must meet separate standards banning more than 240 ingredients including phthalates, parabens and microbeads.

Community Giving at Each Opening

To mark each store opening, Whole Foods Market is making monetary donations to several U.K. nonprofit organizations including FoodCycle, All Saints Food Bank, the Independent Food Aid Network and Family Action Food Clubs. At the Angel and Wood Wharf openings, the company will also provide food donations to The Felix Project, a surplus food rescue organization that already makes regular pickups from Whole Foods Market U.K. stores and previously received a refrigerated van through the grocer’s Nourishing Our Neighborhoods program.

Whole Foods Market operates more than 545 stores across the U.S., Canada and the U.K. and is part of Amazon’s Worldwide Grocery Stores division.
