The Fresh Market recently reopened a store in Hendersonville, North Carolina, following more than a year of repairs and renovations after Hurricane Helene damage in 2024.
The reopening included a $5,000 donation to MANNA Food Bank and a bread-breaking ceremony with the Hendersonville High School marching band.
Mayor Barbara Volk and Chamber of Commerce President Robert Williford addressed the gathering, alongside representatives from local vendors Poppy’s Popcorn and Devil’s Foot Beverage Company, both of which partnered with The Fresh Market on its Explore Asheville campaign during the rebuild. Additional local vendors sampled products throughout the day.
The location features a renovated layout with The Fresh Market’s full specialty assortment, including freshly prepared meals, USDA Prime Beef, peak-season produce and private-label items.
Brian Johnson, CEO of The Fresh Market, said the reopening carried significance beyond a typical store launch.
“Reopening this store has been meaningful for our entire team,” he said. “We’ve missed being part of the Hendersonville community, and it’s wonderful to welcome our guests back to experience our award-winning brand of impeccable hospitality paired with the highest-quality fresh foods and finest selection of global and local products.”
Weekend Celebration
The Fresh Market will host a homecoming celebration from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. March 14, featuring local vendors, live bluegrass music, a grilling station, kids’ activities and giveaways.
The Fresh Market operates more than 170 stores in 22 states. The company was rated by USA Today as one of America’s Best Customer Service Companies in 2025 and recognized by Newsweek as the Best Specialty/Natural/Ethnic Grocer for 2025.
