Busch’s Fresh Food Market is featuring traditional Irish foods and beverages March 9-22 for St. Patrick’s Day, including premium corned beef, brisket, cabbage and potatoes throughout its 16 southeastern Michigan stores, the Ann Arbor-based grocer announced Feb. 25.

Ready-to-eat St. Patrick’s Day meals freshly prepared by Busch’s deli team will include corned beef with roasted redskin potatoes, carrots and cabbage, portioned for two. Irish soda bread, made in-house at the company’s bakehouse in Clinton, will be available through March 17.

“We love to celebrate cultural foods at Busch’s, and our Irish celebration is always enjoyable for guests and associates alike,” said Chris Romano, director of merchandising at Busch’s. “If guests want to cook their favorite Irish dishes, we have all the ingredients they need. But if they prefer, we have a delicious ready-made corned beef meal, they can find within the deli.”

Premium Michigan brands and cooking expertise

The Irish celebration features premium flat-cut brisket from Michigan favorites Grobbel’s of Detroit and Sy Ginsberg of Ann Arbor, trusted Midwest brands with generations of curing expertise. The selection also includes a Grobbel’s corned beef meal kit and boneless USDA Choice Black Angus brisket, with Busch’s meat experts ready to share cooking tips and pairing ideas.

Additional Irish-themed items include Kerrygold butter and Dubliner cheddar cheese, Guinness stout, Maggie’s Irish Ale, Jameson Irish Whiskey, Bailey’s Irish Cream, Dearborn Brand sauerkraut, decorated white and green cupcakes and shamrock plants.

Signature Irish soda bread remains guest favorite

Busch’s Signature Irish soda bread, made from scratch with heavy cream and butter, remains a guest favorite. More than 3,000 loaves are sold during the week of St. Patrick’s Day. Jessica Benn, bakehouse manager, said that when she joined the company 15 years ago, she prepared the bread herself with limited assistance. Today, a team hand-forms the loaves to meet increased demand.

“It’s a time-honored Busch’s recipe – slightly sweet with raisins and finished with a delicate sugared crust that creates the perfect bite,” Benn said. “It’s become a guest favorite.”

The bread is made in small batches to maintain quality and prevent over-kneading. Irish soda bread scones are also available.
