Chicago-based meat brand Moo & Oink is celebrating its 50th anniversary in 2026 with a yearlong series of special events, new products and retailer celebrations.

Shoppers will see a commemorative badge across Moo & Oink packaging, along with in-store sampling events, mascot appearances and displays at participating retailers.

“Moo & Oink has always been about bringing people together,” said Josephine Beavers, chairperson of Beavers Holdings. “For 50 years, this brand has been part of Chicago’s neighborhoods and celebrations, and we’re honored to carry that tradition forward.

“This anniversary is a thank-you to the customers who grew up with us, the retailers who stood by us and the city that continues to make Moo & Oink a true Chicago original.”

The brand also plans throwbacks, an updated version of its jingle and interactive experiences across social media channels throughout the year.

Moo & Oink was revitalized in 2012 when Best Chicago Meat Co. bought the brand’s intellectual property at public auction for $530,000 after the original Moo & Oink stores filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy.

Best Chicago Meat, a second-generation Black-owned family business, had produced burgers and sausages for Moo & Oink for 30 years prior to acquiring the brand.

Under new ownership, the brand returned its products to grocery shelves across Chicago and expanded distribution throughout the Midwest, including partnerships with retailers such as Roundy’s banners Pick ‘n Save and Rainbow. An e-commerce website was launched in 2013.

Moo & Oink products include hot and mild links, rib tips, breakfast sausage, chicken nuggets, barbecue sauce and seasonings.
