Weis Markets will open its new Waldorf, Maryland, location to the public Feb. 19 following a media preview and ribbon cutting on Feb. 18, the Sunbury, Pennsylvania-based retailer announced.
The 65,000-square-foot store at 4535 Fairway Village Pl. in Fairway Village is Weis Markets’ newest Maryland location. Chairman and CEO Jonathan Weis and COO Bob Gleeson will attend alongside elected officials from Charles County and local community members.
Community giving
In celebration of the grand opening, Weis Markets will present $1,500 donations to five local organizations: Hospice of the Chesapeake, Waldorf Volunteer Fire Department, Last Chance Animal Rescue, LifeStyles of Maryland Foundation and Thomas Stone High School Marching Band. The company will also donate the store’s first Weis2Go order to LifeStyles of Maryland Foundation.
Store features
The Waldorf location includes an expansive market-style produce department with organic produce, full-service meat and seafood departments, daily in-store sushi preparation, a bakery with fresh-baked breads and custom cakes, a floral department and a deli with sliced meats, cheeses and a heat-and-serve meal section. A salad and soup bar with fresh, made-daily options is also available.
The store features an in-store Starbucks café, a full-service drive-thru pharmacy and a six-pump Gas N’ Go fuel center where customers can redeem Weis Rewards points.
Sustainability and technology
The store features energy-efficient LED lighting and CO2 refrigerated cases, which use less harmful refrigerants than those in most supermarkets.
Customers can order online through Weis2Go for curbside pickup or home delivery through DoorDash, Instacart, Shipt and Uber Eats.
Founded in 1912, Weis Markets operates 202 stores in Pennsylvania, Maryland, Delaware, New Jersey, New York, West Virginia and Virginia.
