Weis Markets will open a new 65,000-square-foot store Feb. 19 at 4535 Fairway Village Place in Waldorf, Maryland, following a media preview and ribbon cutting Feb. 18.
Chairman and CEO Jonathan Weis and COO Bob Gleeson will attend the ceremony, as will elected officials from Charles County and the community.
To mark the occasion, Weis Markets will present $1,500 donations to five organizations: Hospice of the Chesapeake, Waldorf Volunteer Fire Department, Last Chance Animal Rescue, LifeStyles of Maryland Foundation and Thomas Stone High School Marching Band.
The Sunbury, Pennsylvania-based company also will donate the store’s first Weis2Go order to LifeStyles of Maryland Foundation.
Store features
The new store includes an expansive market-style produce department with organic produce, full-service meat and seafood departments, daily in-store sushi preparation, bakery with fresh-baked breads and custom cakes, floral department and deli with sliced meats, cheeses and heat-and-serve meal section.
A salad and soup bar with fresh, made-daily options is also available.
The store features an in-store Starbucks café, a full-service drive-thru pharmacy and a six-pump Gas N’ Go fuel center.
Sustainability and technology
The store features energy-efficient LED lighting and CO2 refrigerated cases.
Founded in 1912, Weis Markets operates 202 stores in Pennsylvania, Maryland, Delaware, New Jersey, New York, West Virginia and Virginia.
