Kroger is expanding its Parkaire Landing location in Marietta, Georgia, with a $23 million investment that will increase the store’s footprint by more than 26,000 square feet, the company announced Jan. 17.

The project will grow the store from about 59,000 to 85,000 square feet by filling three adjacent vacancies in the East Cobb shopping center. A new 12-pump fuel center with a central retail kiosk will replace a portion of existing surface parking.

New store features

The expansion will add a sushi culinary kiosk offering freshly prepared rolls, an enlarged deli counter with ready-to-eat meals and on-the-go options, a full-service Murray’s cheese counter featuring specialty cheeses and charcuterie and an expanded produce department.

“At Kroger, our mission is to feed the human spirit. This expansion demonstrates our dedication to being a trusted grocer, retailer and healthcare provider,” said Tammie Young-Ennaemba, head of communications and public affairs for Kroger’s Atlanta Division.

“From the shopping aisles to our partnerships in local schools and hunger relief organizations, Kroger is proud to invest in the community and support families with fresh food, quality products, great value and accessible services.”

Construction timeline

Demolition began in January. The store will remain open throughout construction. The expansion is targeted for completion in spring 2027.

Parkaire Landing attracts more than 2.5 million visitors annually, with more than 1 million shopping at Kroger. The center was acquired by Jamestown in 2018. Since then, the property owner has enhanced the site through the addition of greenspace, murals and property-wide music.

“We’re thrilled to see Kroger expand its presence at Parkaire Landing,” said Eric Hines, director and Southeast and Mid-Atlantic regional lead of asset management at Jamestown. “The store’s evolution aligns with our vision of creating a dynamic, one-stop destination, and we look forward to the benefits the new space will bring to the neighborhood.”

Property portfolio

Jamestown has invested in community-focused, grocery-anchored shopping centers for more than 30 years. The firm’s current portfolio includes eight grocery-anchored properties across Georgia and Florida totaling approximately 1.2 million square feet.

Kroger’s Atlanta Division operates stores across Georgia, Eastern Alabama and South Carolina with 27,000 associates. The division is part of The Kroger Co.
