ECRS has successfully completed a SOC 2 Type 2 audit conducted by an independent CPA firm in accordance with American Institute of Certified Public Accountants Trust Services Criteria, the Boone, North Carolina-based retail technology provider announced Feb. 11.
The audit evaluated both the design and operational effectiveness of ECRS’ internal controls over a defined period. The SOC 2 Type 2 report examines how controls operate over time, providing customers and partners with independently validated insight into the company’s security posture, resilience and governance.
Security framework
The audit assessed controls safeguarding customer data and supporting reliability of key ECRS services including Automated Software Deployment, Online Backup, VPN Hosting, Remote Access, CATAPULT WebCart and CATAPULT Cognition APIs.
“ECRS continues to prioritize a security-first approach,” said Rob Lewis, IT director at ECRS. “We’ve documented, formalized and reviewed 147 security controls, implemented new security applications and codified corporate policies such as Business Continuity, Risk Management, and Vendor Management to maintain and strengthen our framework.”
Audit scope
The SOC 2 Type 2 report evaluates both design and operational effectiveness of internal controls. The reviewing firm analyzed data and control performance to assess how consistently and effectively ECRS’ security and confidentiality controls were executed in daily practice.
A SOC 2 Type 2 audit differs from a Type 1 audit by examining controls over an extended period rather than at a single point in time. This provides stakeholders with a detailed view of how an organization’s security controls perform under actual operating conditions.
The SOC 2 Type 2 report is available to ECRS clients and partners upon request.
ECRS is a family-owned, Certified Evergreen company founded in 1989. The company’s CATAPULT POS platform, powered by Unified Transaction Logic, connects all retail touchpoints including point of sale, back office, self-checkout, deli scale, fuel pump, pharmacy, inventory, loyalty, ecommerce and enterprise management through a single transactional logic.
