The Spinx Company has selected Tote.AI to provide point-of-sale, self-service kiosks and foodservice technology across all 96 convenience stores in the Carolinas, the Greenville, South Carolina-based retailer announced in early February.

The AI-native platform will unify Spinx’s ordering, checkout and kitchen technology into a single system. The rollout will begin in the second half of 2026, with all stores expected to receive the update by spring 2027.

Vendor Selection Process

Spinx had already completed its vendor selection before reconsidering after an introduction to Tote.AI. The platform’s capabilities prompted the retailer to reopen its evaluation.

“The platform was compelling enough that we reopened our evaluation,” said Luis Ackerman, VP of technology at Spinx.

“When we discovered it could also handle our foodservice technology needs, the decision became clear. We could modernize with a single flexible platform that delivers better customer experiences, improves operational efficiency and applies AI in practical, innovative ways.”

Unified System Benefits

The technology will run on Spinx’s current hardware, avoiding costly terminal replacements. The platform integrates ordering, fulfillment and checkout into a single operational view.

“When foodservice and the POS operate as separate systems, retailers often end up with fragmented workflows, inconsistent data and limited visibility into customer behaviors,” said Shyam Rao, founder and CEI of Tote.AI.

“A unified approach helps eliminate those blind spots by bringing ordering, fulfillment and checkout into a single operational view, making it easier for teams to manage complexity as food service continues to grow in importance for convenience retailers.”

Platform capabilities

The system will support integrated ordering, payment processing and kitchen display systems while enabling faster service and more consistent execution across stores. The implementation uses agentic AI to deepen customer insights and offer more flexibility for store operations.

“We’re thrilled to partner with Spinx,” Rao said.

“This partnership validates what we’ve been hearing from operators across the country: The convenience-store industry is ready for a quantum leap in technology, one that doesn’t just process transactions, but empowers operators to compete, adapt and thrive in an increasingly dynamic retail landscape. Our vision is to give c-store operators sophisticated, flexible technology that enables engaging consumer experiences, including those transformed with agentic commerce, so operators can focus on what matters most: serving their communities and growing their businesses.”
