Lidl US will open a new store Feb. 25 at 460 Third Ave. in the Kips Bay neighborhood of Manhattan, marking the German discount grocer’s continued push into New York City.
The Arlington, Virginia-based retailer will hold a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 7:40 a.m. Free croissants and coffee will be available at the grand opening.
The store is part of Lidl’s densification strategy along the East Coast, where it has focused expansion efforts since entering the U.S. market in 2017. The company operates more than 185 stores across nine states and Washington, D.C.
Lidl has accelerated its New York City presence over the past year with store openings in Brooklyn, the Bronx and Manhattan. The retailer opened a Lower East Side location last August and debuted stores in Park Slope and other Brooklyn neighborhoods in late 2025.
The Kips Bay store will feature Lidl’s standard merchandising format centered on private label products that the company says deliver savings of up to 40 percent compared to national brands.
Fresh produce, in-store bakery items, meat and seafood sections anchor the front of the store to communicate freshness and value upon entry.
Promotional programming includes Wednesday Weekly Deals on produce and pantry staples, Weekend Super Sales featuring six limited-time offers Friday through Sunday and Monday Must-Haves covering kitchen items, home décor and seasonal merchandise. The Monday program also rotates specialty food items from Lidl’s European imports.
The store will carry signature items, including 49-cent butter croissants imported from Europe and baked fresh daily, along with Lidl’s Special Guest bakery program that features four rotating baked goods each month. February offerings include Brookie, Banana Nut Muffin, Cinnamon Swirl Muffin and Blueberry Scone.
Lidl’s Butcher’s Specialty private label line provides USDA Choice beef, organic beef, grass-fed beef, antibiotic-free chicken and all-natural pork. The Preferred Selection brand features Italian imports, including 24-month aged Parmigiano Reggiano, prosciutto, European pizzas and frozen tiramisu.
The retailer’s MyLidl app provides exclusive digital coupons and access to the Super Shopper rewards program. All purchases are backed by the Lidl Love It Guarantee, which offers refund and replacement for products that don’t meet customer expectations.
