The store Food Lion will open Feb. 11 at 3501 N. Elm St. in Greensboro, North Carolina, is its 14th in the city and continues the company’s growth across its 10-state footprint.
“We’re thrilled to open Food Lion’s newest store here in Greensboro and welcome our neighbors into their new store to experience fresh and affordable groceries,” said Ken Mabe, store manager.

CO₂ refrigeration, water-chilled cooling reduce energy use
The store features a CO₂ refrigeration system to maintain product freshness, as well as innovative chillers that use chilled water to cool the store, reducing energy consumption.
The location offers an easy-to-shop layout, expanded assortment and modern décor based on customer feedback.
Store features include ready-to-eat, -cook and -heat meal solutions; fresh produce; quality meats; and organic, gluten-free and plant-based items.
Self-checkout lanes supplement traditional cashier-assisted checkout. Nature’s Promise, Food Lion’s organic brand, offers products made without artificial flavors, preservatives or synthetic colors.
The Local Goodness program sources regional items from North Carolina-based growers and manufacturers.
$2,500 given toward two nonprofits
To mark the opening, Food Lion is donating the equivalent of 25,000 meals to support Greensboro residents through Food Lion Feeds.
The contribution includes $1,250 to Servant Center and $1,250 to Wells Memorial We Care Pantry, both of which will collect food from the store to distribute in the community.
