Walmart opened a new supercenter Feb. 4 at 10000 Omni Drive in Jacksonville, Florida, the latest step in its plan to build or convert more than 150 stores in the coming years.

The news follows the recent openings in Florida of a supercenter (Apollo Beach) and a neighborhood market (Ocala).

The Jacksonville store features a reimagined layout, expanded assortment and next-generation shopping experiences designed to blend physical and digital retail.

“Today is a proud moment for our team and the Jacksonville community,” said Brian Jackson, store manager. “Thanks to the dedication of our associates, we’re opening a new store that brings fresh opportunities and growth to the area.

“We’re excited to serve our customers and bring a next-generation retail experience to this community.”

Reimagined layout includes expanded home, apparel offerings

The Jacksonville Supercenter features a modern, more open layout designed to make it easier for customers to explore, with expanded home and apparel offerings. It offers delivery in about an hour, including prescriptions, plus pickup options. The store

Interactive digital touchpoints make in-store shopping easier and more connected. The expanded assortment includes elevated fashion brands and grocery offerings including a bakery, deli and fresh sushi bar. The store also carries Oakleaf merchandise to reflect the local community.

The store offers associates tuition-free college, flexible scheduling and paid time off. Beyond creating local employment, the store supports regional suppliers, contractors and service providers.

“The opening of the new Walmart on Omni Drive represents a meaningful investment in our district’s economic growth and infrastructure,” said Randy White, Jacksonville City Council member.

“This project improves access to essential goods and services for nearby neighborhoods, creates local jobs, and reflects the continued development of the Omni Drive corridor. I appreciate Walmart’s partnership and the collaborative efforts that helped bring this project to fruition.”

Grand opening featured Jacksonville Jaguar legend, DJ D-Nice

Employees and residents gathered for a ribbon-cutting ceremony and community celebration Feb. 4 that included giveaways, a meet-and-greet with Jacksonville Jaguar legend Fred Taylor, entertainment from saxophonist and producer D-Nic  and a spring fashion showcase with a special appearance from Miss Shirley.

Walmart awarded Spark Good local grants to Feeding Northeast Florida, Oakleaf Junior High, Police Athletic League and The Way Medical Clinic.

Walmart operates 390 retail units in Florida with 120,498 employees. It spent $8.8 billion with Florida suppliers in fiscal year 2025, supporting 63,937 supplier jobs.
