Thrive Market has introduced a new Alpha-Gal Free grocery filter on its online marketplace, designed to help shoppers more easily identify products that meet the needs of those with Alpha-Gal Syndrome (AGS).

The filter was developed in response to member feedback and growing awareness of Alpha-Gal Syndrome, a condition that requires strict avoidance of certain mammalian-derived ingredients.

“This filter comes as a result of member feedback and a response to a condition that’s rising nationwide,” said April Lane, chief merchandising officer at Thrive Market. “Nearly 100 members asked us to make Alpha-Gal free shopping easier. Our members tell us what they need to keep their families healthy, and we build for that as environments change.”

Thrive Market said the launch reflects its ongoing focus on expanding product discovery tools that support evolving dietary needs.

Founded in 2014, Thrive Market is a membership-based online grocery retailer focused on healthy and sustainable products. Through its social impact initiative, Thrive Gives, the company has raised more than $20 million to support food access and environmental sustainability. Thrive Market has been carbon neutral since 2014, became a Certified B Corporation in 2020, converted to a Public Benefit Corporation in 2023, and in 2024 became the first online-only retailer to accept SNAP EBT.
