Food Lion expanded Food Lion To Go online ordering to 36 additional stores in North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia and Maryland, the Salisbury, North Carolina-based retailer announced Jan. 28.
The expansion provides more customers access to online grocery pickup and home delivery services through foodlion.com and the Food Lion app. The rollout builds on continued e-commerce growth for the omnichannel retailer, which already offers Food Lion To Go pickup and/or home delivery across 100 percent of its 10-state operating area.
“Customers want grocery shopping to fit into their lives, whether that’s in-store or online,” said Evan Harding, director of digital and e-commerce at Food Lion.
“Food Lion To Go allows us to meet our neighbors where they are by offering a simple, easy shopping experience – delivering the same fresh food and value they can count on from Food Lion. As e-commerce continues to grow, we’re focused on making it easier for our customers to shop whenever, wherever and however they prefer.”
While delivery through third-party e-commerce partners was previously available at these locations, the expansion of Food Lion To Go provides customers with more options to shop with Food Lion through its website and app.
Food Lion To Go orders are selected by Food Lion employees familiar with products in their stores. They are trained to select fresh, high-quality items at affordable prices, delivering the same care customers expect when shopping in-store.
Where permitted by law, customers 21 and older can purchase beer and wine through Food Lion To Go. By linking their Food Lion MVP savings card, customers can use digital coupons, redeem Shop & Earn rewards and access MVP discounts and weekly savings specials.
Food Lion operates more than 1,100 stores throughout 10 Southeastern and Mid-Atlantic states with more than 82,000 associates. The company is part of Ahold Delhaize USA, the U.S. division of Zaandam-based Ahold Delhaize.
