Hannaford Supermarkets plans to open a second location in Lewiston, Maine, a 51,000-square-foot store at 20 East Ave. in the Lewiston Mall.
Construction is expected to begin early this year with an opening anticipated in winter 2027. The store, which will create 150 jobs, will feature a full-service pharmacy along with Hannaford To Go pickup and delivery services.
“All of us at Hannaford are tremendously excited to make our quality food, dependable value and outstanding customer service available to even more shoppers in the Lewiston/Auburn area,” said Todd Bullen, VP of retail operations.
“We are proud to invest further in our home state, bring new jobs to the area and strengthen our relationship with the community.”
The new mall store represents the company’s third location in the Lewiston-Auburn market, joining stores on Sabattus Street in Lewiston and Spring Street in Auburn.
The new location will participate in Hannaford’s food rescue program, donating products to area food pantries and supporting community partners and schools.
In 2025, Hannaford invested more than $1.8 million in food security programs and donated more than 27 million pounds of food – the equivalent of 23 million meals.
The new store will mark Hannaford’s 189th location when it opens, with 69 of them in Maine.
Founded in Portland in 1883 and headquartered in Scarborough, Hannaford operates 188 stores, most with full-service pharmacies, in Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New York and Vermont.
