The campaign, which began Jan. 9, allows customers to round up their totals at checkout across Giant’s 163 stores in Virginia, Maryland, Delaware and the District of Columbia. Proceeds will benefit 13 community organizations including the Boys & Girls Club of Greater Washington, Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Capital Region, American Farmland Trust, Building Bridges Across the River and Alliance for the Chesapeake Bay.

Giant will celebrate its 90th birthday Feb. 6, marking nine decades since opening its first location in Washington, D.C., on Georgia Avenue NW at Park Road as the region’s first self-service supermarket. The company will announce major gifts from its Family Foundation to six hunger-fighting organizations, including the Capital Area Food Bank and Maryland Food Bank, at community events next month.

Since partnering with Feeding America, Giant and the Giant Family Foundation have contributed more than $23 million in monetary donations and more than 26.6 million meals through fresh food recovery programs.

The regional grocery chain operates 163 supermarkets with about 20,000 associates and remains the only homegrown grocer serving the greater Washington, D.C., market. The company’s store base includes 153 full-service pharmacies and 28 Starbucks locations.

Giant has designated four main giving pillars: Food Insecurity, Military Support, Pediatric Cancer Research and Social Equality. Customers can expect additional community initiatives and events, including giveaway contests and grant programs, throughout 2026 as the retailer celebrates the milestone anniversary.

The company offers 161 Giant Pickup locations with delivery options available across all markets, providing customers multiple shopping options for in-store and online purchases.
