The Kroger Co. has shared its top six food trend predictions for 2026, forecasting emerging customer behaviors and anticipated popular products for the year ahead. The list was developed by Kroger’s team of food experts and is intended to spotlight flavors and formats likely to resonate with shoppers in the months to come.

“The way our customers eat will be more dynamic than ever this year as they look to elevate everyday meals, snacks and treats with bold flavors, functional ingredients and culinary creativity, delivering a premium experience for less,” said Ann Reed, group VP of Our Brands for Kroger.

“Whether it’s a protein and fiber-rich macaroni and cheese or a zesty raspberry and yuzu sparkling water, Kroger brings these trends to life through our exclusive brands’ innovative assortment of affordable products that give every customer a taste of what’s next.”

Kroger’s top six trend predictions for 2026 include:

  • Dairy’s Cultured Comeback: Cultured classics will lead the dairy aisle as customers embrace gut-friendly nourishment, with fermented favorites reimagined in new formats.
  • Protein + Fiber Synergy: Protein continues its popularity and will be paired with fiber in comforting, craveable formats that support energy and digestive health.
  • One-Bite Snacks and Mini Meals: Bite-sized snacks and compact meal options will gain traction as shoppers seek convenience, personalization and portion-controlled eating occasions.
  • Citrus Celebration: Citrus flavors – from yuzu to blood orange – are expected to take center stage, adding brightness to everything from beverages to desserts.
  • Home Cooking, Reimagined: Elevated home cooking – including restaurant-style dishes at home – is forecast to grow, with bold sauces, international influences and global flavors featured in everyday meals.
  • Asian-Inspired Mashups: Fusion flavors drawing on Asian culinary traditions – such as gochujang, matcha and sesame – will become more common across categories, from sauces to ready-to-eat offerings.

Kroger said customers will be able to shop these trends through its exclusive brands.
